Custom fields let you store data that the built-in contact fields do not cover — a renewal date, an account tier, a referral source, or anything else specific to how your team sells.
Each custom field has a type that controls how it is entered and displayed. Choose the type that matches the data so values stay consistent across contacts. The manager shows a type badge next to every field.
Drag fields in the Custom Fields manager to reorder them. The order you set here is the order they appear on the contact detail page.
Custom field values are edited on the Details tab of the contact detail page, inline like every other field. Custom fields are also available as mapping targets in the import wizard, so spreadsheet columns without a built-in match can still be imported.
The same system exists for the Accounts and Pipeline modules. Account custom fields are managed in Account Settings and deal custom fields in Pipeline Settings — each set is scoped to its own module.
